jane is hiding there

her blonde hair is hanging
in her face
a rumpled lace collar around her neck
black worn fabric fitted against her chest

now where has she gone
we searched the white kitchen
we searched the grand hall
we searched the dark dining room
the locked closet
the empty cell
where has she gone
jane
deranged
delighted
derailed
jane
